FAQ

When does registration close?
The first registration period is from March 1 to March 31, 2026. However, we are limiting the number of participants to 99, so registration will automatically close once that number is reached. We want to ensure the organizers and the nature can handle the volume.

What happens if I need to cancel my reservation? Is there a refund policy?
Cancellations are not possible after registration. We understand that circumstances can change, but there are some fixed costs we will or have already paid throughout the year. While refunds are not possible, we offer the option to transfer your participation to another person. Requests must be made by July 10, 2026, and it is the participant's responsibility to find a replacement. We will process this as quickly as possible. Please contact us by email if you wish to transfer your participation (See Regulations 7).

Can I participate on a gravel bike?
This route is best suited to a gravel bike or hardtail mountain bike. The overall surface is flat and good, with the occasional small hill or stream. While wider wheels will be more comfortable, narrower tires (around 32mm) are also perfectly acceptable.

Can I participate with an electric bike?
We want to encourage more people to experience Mongolia's nature. However, our routes do not have electrical outlets to charge your electric bike. Unfortunately, please bring a regular bike.

Is there a list of mandatory gear I need to bring?
Considering the nature of our event, we will check the mandatory equipment at check-in. Mandatory gear includes a GPS device (or smartphone app), water purifier, whistle, lantern, and rain jacket.   However, if you're an experienced bikepacker, you'll likely need other gear as well. (See Regulations 2).

When and where do we depart and arrive?
The Grand Start will be at Jana Naran Resort on August 24th at 8:00 AM, and the Grand Finish will return to the starting point on August 28th. Each day will follow a set route, and we will camp together in the evening.

Can I leave unnecessary luggage (e.g., bike bags) while riding?
Yes. The organizer will provide luggage storage services during the event. Luggage check-in time is from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM on August 23rd. Luggage return time is 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM on August 28th. Participants are limited to storing one piece of luggage per person.   When returning, you must present your number.

However, we do not offer luggage storage service, which allows luggage to be dropped off in the morning and picked up in the evening for each stage.

What is the difficulty level of this route?
It has a gradient of 2/5. It is mostly flat double track, accessible to vehicles, but there are occasional shallow water or mud spots. However, this does not significantly affect the difficulty level.

Are there checkpoints?
There are no checkpoints for each stage. However, at the end of each stage, you must come to the event table and provide your number. Otherwise, we will consider you still riding, and if you exceed the time limit, we will mark you as an "Non-finisher".   We may also consider you lost.

When will the final route be announced?
The event route was scouted in October 2025, and we are still checking various locations. The final route will be announced in the email notification sent on August 1, 2026. The route will be released in advance for participants' review, but is subject to change.

Will there be an escape route midway?
There are no escape route until you reach Omnodelger, the finish point of Stage 3, or Tsenghermandal village, the end of Stage 4.   If you are unable to move on your bike, you need to hire a separate vehicle.   In this case, you will be responsible for the costs of this service.

What should I do if my bike has mechanical problems?
This is a self-supported event. You will be responsible for any bike repairs yourself.   Of course, since this is a group ride, there may be someone nearby who can assist you.   However, please remember that this may not always be the case.

What if I get lost?
We provide a GPS file of the route. To avoid getting lost, use both a GPS device and a smartphone app, and always check the route.   Even if another rider is ahead of you, check the route yourself.   It's possible for a group to take the wrong route.
Depending on how your GPS device is set up, it may automatically calculate and navigate a new route when you turn off the route.   This can actually complicate matters.   We recommend turning off the auto-navigation feature.    Use our GPS tracks to decide for yourself.

Is resupply possible?
Yes, it is.   Omnodelger(Before the finish of Stage 3) and Bayanmod(Before the finish of Stage 4) are villages with supermarkets. Credit cards are generally accepted, but we recommend carrying cash, as power outages and store owners may not accept credit cards.   Power outages are common.

Can I get help from other people?

You can access third party resources available to everyone e.g. shops, cafes, accommodation providers, deliveries to public addresses/post shops, bike mechanics.

However, support prepared just for you is not allowed.

Is water readily available?
There is water available at the stage start and finish points. This can be tap water, stream water, or well water. Water along the route may be less readily available, so please bring at least two water bottles. Water sources along the route are marked on the map. Always purify the water to prevent stomach upset.

Is battery charging possible?
You must provide your own equipment for recharging the batteries. A dynamo or solar panel is recommended.

When will the final Rider's Handbook be sent out?
Scouting has concluded, but there's still plenty of time before the start. Therefore, we'll return in early summer for a final inspection. The final route and Rider's Handbook will be sent to all participants in August 2026.
