9. Threat
- Wild Animals: The mountainous areas of this route are home to animals such as bears, wolves, foxes, and deer. However, encounters with these animals are rare.
Brown bears are native to and found in the Khan Khentii Strictly Protected Area and National Park in Mongolia. The region is part of the Siberian taiga ecosystem and provides an important habitat for them. They are generally shy and avoid human contact. Use a whistle in the forest to avoid unexpected bear encounters.
- Dogs: Moving quickly stimulates dogs. Cycling at high speeds when a dog is following you will only provoke them further. Instead, get off your bike and calmly demonstrating that you are not afraid will help the dog move away. If a dog actually attacks, you have no choice but to defend yourself with your bike. The important thing is to avoid falling and protect your neck. Once the dog moves away, slowly move away.
